We chose our topic by exploring numerous different ideas. Both of us were intrigued by the controversy and importance of Harry Truman’s decision to drop the bomb, and how his decision impacted the world. Harry Truman is not the first person who would come to mind when thinking of a leader in American History, and that’s why we chose him. Harry Truman is a leader in his own right, and exploring his leadership and legacy was a project we wanted to take on.We conducted our research through following the instructions of our teacher, sifting through multiple academic websites, and utilizing Gale databases. On Gale, we gathered data from the “American History in Context” section. As for the other sources, we strived to take use only qualified and academic sites We selected our presentation category, a website, because we wanted to be creative in the way we expressed our information. A website allows us to present our topic in a way that is interactive, informative, and interesting. We were able to use visual aids to enhance our project, illustrating the time of Hiroshima. Presenting our information in a website was enjoyable for us to make, and made it easier for us to do the best job possible. Our project/website relates the the NHD theme, Leadership and Legacy, through our focus of the leaders (Harry Truman, others who negotiated with him) and the impacts of their actions on the years after.
